Francis M. Palumbo, MD, FAAP

Dr. PalumboDr. Palumbo, born and raised in Connecticut, has enjoyed living in the Washington area since he attended Georgetown University where he received a B.S. in Biology. He continued his studies at Georgetown where he completed medical school and his pediatric residency. He served as the Director of Georgetown’s Children & Youth Ambulatory Services for 10 years before entering private practice. He has maintained his position as Associate Professor of pediatrics at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Palumbo has served as an advisor for the American Academy of Pediatrics and has appeared before Congress as an expert child advocate on the Task Force on Children and Television. In 2012 Dr. Palumbo was named “Doctor of the Year” by the Georgetown Clinical Society and was given the preceptor Award by the Georgetown School of Medicine. In 2013 he was admitted to the medical honor society-AOA. As a member of the Georgetown University Board of Governors and the Medical alumni board, he is very involved with the University. In 2016, Dr. Palumbo was awarded, in Rome, Georgetown’s highest alumni honor, the John Carroll Award. He has been at Spring Valley Pediatrics for thirty years and is honored to be part of his patients’ lives.

Dr. Palumbo enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Sharon, and his grandchildren. He can also be found sailing in local waters, sampling fine wines, and cheering at a Hoya basketball game.
